Antique English Raphael Tuck Postcard - Decoration Day
This English post card is by Raphael Tuck and Sons, as part of their "Decoration Day Post Cards Series", N6 107. At the bottom of the card are the dates of the Civil War 1861-1865. Rifles form a teepee around the cannon surrounded by triumphant U.S. flags and laurel wreaths. This is an embossed card which adds dimension to the design. The card dates to the period 1905-17. It is unused. At the top right of the card we read "In glory underneath the sod slumber our heroes today." There is a little wear at the edges. Otherwise the colors are vivid and the card is in fine condition. Raphael Tuck, chosen for his excellence, was a purveyor to the queen, as the card states.
